Volunteering at Sea Biscuit

Wildlife Rehabilitation Volunteers Needed Opossums, Squirrels, and Rabbits

As a non-profit organization, volunteers are a vital part of Sea Biscuit’s daily operations.

Sea Biscuit Shelter has historically focused on the rehabilitation of birds, but due to the growing need for care of small mammals in our area, we are receiving an increasing number of requests to assist opossums, squirrels, and rabbits. Over the past several months, we have learned firsthand that wildlife rehabilitation for small mammals is both rewarding and demanding. As we approach the busy spring baby squirrel season, our current team is stretched thin, and we need additional dedicated volunteers to help meet the growing need. We are currently compiling a list of individuals who are interested in making a long-term commitment to wildlife rehabilitation. Once we have a better understanding of volunteer interest, we will schedule an introductory meeting to discuss the responsibilities, time commitment, training, and skills involved. If you are interested in joining our team, please email us at seabiscuitshelter@yahoo.com and include:

  • Why you would like to volunteer with Sea Biscuit Shelter
  • Your general availability
  • Any relevant experience (although prior experience is not required)

We are happy to train committed volunteers who are willing to learn and work closely with our staff. At this time, we are unable to accept phone calls, walk-in visits, or in-person inquiries. Our facility operates primarily during feeding and care times, when our focus must remain entirely on the animals currently in rehabilitation. We appreciate your understanding and hope you will consider joining us in caring for the wildlife that depends on our community's support. Please contact us by email as soon as possible so we can begin planning for the upcoming season. Thank you for your interest in helping local wildlife thrive.
